Home Theater That Moves You

blue line

No one forgets that first high-end home theater demonstration-whether it's in a friend's home or the showroom of a custom electronics expert. The sound envelops you and rivets your attention to the screen so well that you feel you are a part of the drama unfolding in front of you. And when that big explosion or gut punch is delivered, you can feel the sound right up through your spine. It's that good.

Re-creating that sound in your home theater won't be a matter of merely wiring some speakers and finding a place for them. To achieve the optimum sound quality, we may spend hours calibrating acoustical patterns before the room is even fully constructed. Exact speaker placement will be considered and reconsidered. And when the various components that make up your audio system are finally installed, more hours will be spent fine-tuning the system to find just the right sound to suit you and the room. It's an exacting process for Audio Video Integration. Home theater owners, however, only need to know some basics to follow the process a little more easily.

Home theaters today can have as few as five speakers, or up to nine or more. Three will be used in the front for the left, center, and right channels. Two to four more will be used in the middle and the rear for surround sound effects. One or more subwoofers for low bass may also be added to the front, the sides, or the rear.

The front left and right speakers are normally placed on either side of the screen, with the center speaker above or below the screen. In certain instances, these speakers may even be placed behind and acoustically perforated screen. These three speakers should have identical power sources (such as 100 watts of amplification). Ideally, they should be identical speakers. You should never skimp on the center speaker. Most of the dialogue in a movie will come through that speaker, so it is the most used and thus the most important speaker in your system.

All rear surround speakers should also be powered the same as the front speakers. That's because almost every new home theater system today is being set up for Dolby Digital AC-3 surround sound. Dolby Digital AC-3 is a step up from Dolby Pro-Logic in that the rear surround channels are in stereo as opposed to mono and that they use the same full range as your front speakers as opposed to Pro-Logic's partial range. As a result, home theaters being set up for Dolby Digital AC-3 surround sound should have full-range rear speakers that are powered the same as your front speakers.

Subwoofers produce only a limited range of very low bass sounds. If you want a lot of low-rumble bass for explosions and other high-impact action film effects, you will need at least one powerful subwoofer. Because the low bass sounds are nonlocalized, the placement of the subwoofers is more flexible. Most, however, will be placed in the front, facing the viewers. Dolby Digital AC-3 allows for a dedicated subwoofer channel as well.

WHOLE HOUSE AUDIO

Imagine living in a home where lifelike music flowed seamlessly from room to room, even outside to a pool area, spa or verandah.

Imagine your favorite music, accurately reproduced by high-quality speakers that blend into the architecture.

Imagine listening to a CD in the bedroom, while another family member enjoys their favorite radio station in the den and yet someone else is listening to a cassette tape by the pool...all at the same time...and all from centrally located equipment located in an out of the way place.

Now stop imagining and start enjoying. All of our professionally designed and installed Whole House Audio Systems deliver multi-room, multi-source music enhancement for the entire family; without infringement upon your design and decor.

When given a choice, most homeowners will opt to invest in higher quality, centrally located audio components and distribute their outputs to other desired locations in the house, rather than purchase multiple "mini systems" of lesser quality in an effort to enjoy music in those same areas.

Convenience, Appealing Aesthetics & Versatility all translate into one meaning; enhanced lifestyle. After living with one of our multi-room systems, we don't believe you could imagine living without one.
